Black Friday PS5 headset deals: what to expect

In general, this year’s Black Friday PS5 headset deals will offer up discounts on a far wider range of products and many more devices specifically built with the new-generation console in mind. That’s because many of the cups that were released alongside the new console have now had a whole year on the shelves. Not only are these models older and ready for some of their first discounts and primed to be genuine Black Friday gaming headset deals in their own right, but competition is creeping up on them with lower price tags and more features.

These top-of-the-range devices don’t see too many discounts in the US. However, early UK discounts often act as an indicator that bigger things will occur later on across the pond.

The Astro A50 looks primed to take a significant price drop in November, for example. Even though there were no discounts on this particular model in the US last November, and haven’t been throughout the course of 2021 so far, there is wiggle room. Last year, the PS4 / PS5 model dropped to £199.99 in the UK, down from that £299 RRP. That means there’s space for the A50 to breathe a little, especially considering headsets like the Arctis 7P might offer a few savings as well.

SteelSeries Arctis 7P

Like the A50, SteelSeries’ PS5-oriented set of cups didn’t drop a single cent in last year’s offers. However, in the UK we’ve already seen those costs start to waver a little, falling down to £133 from the £159 RRP a couple of times throughout the year. Again, there’s been no such luck in the US, but if those numbers can wobble across the pond, it’s likely there’s something in store for State-side gamers come November.

If you’re looking for more of a sure bet, we’d point you towards the SteelSeries Arctis 7. It’s a very similar set of cups, but loses a few bells and whistles to keep the price tag low. What’s more, we’ve seen it dropping down to $129.99 (usually $149.99) in previous Black Friday sales, and considering it’s ageing on a little, we’re expecting to see an improvement on 2018’s $99.99 offer as well.

Then there’s the classic Pulse 3D headset. We’re betting on the official Sony headphones taking their first real discount in the US over 2021’s Black Friday PS5 headset deals. So far retailers have been stubborn with their $99 MSRP, though UK deal-hunters have been rewarded with a £10 discount down to £78 so far in 2021 and plenty of bundle deals with other accessories and games.

Watch out for:

  • Astro A50
  • SteelSeries Arctis 7P
  • SteelSeries Arctis 7
  • Pulse 3D headset
  • Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2

How to find the best Black Friday PS5 headset deals

If you’ve ever shopped on Black Friday before, you’ll know that offers can come and go in a flash. Some of the best discounts can be sold out within minutes, especially if they’re on some of the more popular products.

However, the ‘best discounts’ on paper might not be the best Black Friday PS5 headset deals for your budget or needs. That’s why it’s essential to get your game plan ready. We’ve been tracking these discounts for years now, and you’ll find all our top tips to make sure you find the best Black Friday PS5 headset deals for you just below.

1. Research your products
Knowing what you want to buy is just the start of finessing Black Friday PS5 headset deals. Of course, you should be researching the products and models that you’re going to be keeping your eye on during the sale event as early as possible.

However, to make sure you’re really getting the best deal possible, you should be looking at the features and specs that matter most to you. That means working out what it is about your chosen products that puts them so high on your shopping list, and making those features your priority when Black Friday PS5 headset deals do roll around.

That’s because there’s no guarantee that the headset you have your eye on will see any discounts at all. If that happens, you’ll need to be able to tell whether other models that are on sale will fit the bill.

2. Research your prices
It’s well worth keeping a close eye on the price of your chosen PS5 headset in the months leading up the Black Friday. Not only will it give you a chance to swoop on a deal you’re already happy with, but you’ll also get a better idea of just how good this year’s Black Friday PS5 headset deals actually are.

Just because it’s a massively advertised event doesn’t mean Black Friday is the be all and end all. You may find lower prices in the weeks leading up to the main event, or even in holiday sales closer to Christmas.

3. Be prepared to sacrifice
If your dream headset doesn’t take any price cuts, it might be time to sacrifice certain features or specs to get an even better price. If you don’t see yourself using your headset on PC alongside your PS5, then, you can save plenty of cash by dropping EQ settings or THX surround sound from your must-have list.

It’s also worth checking out the products that sit around your preferred price tag. You may be able to pick up more of what you need and less of what you don’t need and still pay a lower cost on a different model when Black Friday PS5 headset deals actually arrive.

4. Know when to stretch your budget
It’s certainly a good idea to come into Black Friday with a budget in mind. However, knowing when it’s ok to stretch that budget, if you can, to pick up a far higher value deal is crucial.

Paying $30 or $40 more can sometimes mean the difference between a mid-range and a premium set of cups and, during bigger sales events, these pricing lines become incredibly blurred. Higher priced items often take larger discounts than cheaper models, simply because they have a bigger margin to play with.

That means you can often spend just a little more and pick up a vastly superior set of headphones that will likely last you longer as well.

Do you need the Pulse 3D headset for 3D audio?

Sony launched the Pulse 3D headset alongside the PS5, touting it as the best way to experience the system’s new Tempest Audio engine. However, you don’t need the official model to take advantage of 3D audio in the new generation. That’s because the audio power comes from the console, and not your headphones which means you’ll be able to take advantage of the spatial sound with a massive range of cups.

Is any headset compatible with PS5?

The great news is that an unbelievable number of headsets are indeed compatible with PS5! In fact, it’d be easier to tell you which ones aren’t. However, for clarity, any headset that has a wired 3.5mm jack connection, a wired USB connection, or almost any headset that uses a Bluetooth dongle will be compatible with a PS5. As a result, this opens up a world of possibilities when looking to get some audio givers for your PS5. What’s more, any compatible and connected headset will get you all the benefits of the PS5’s Tempest 3D Audio engine.

So, as a result, the only headset which is unlikely to be compatible is a straight-up Bluetooth set of headphones. Even Sony ones. But, despite that, this means the Black Friday PS5 headset deals will come in a whole host of useful, genuinely awesome forms: looking for a premium wireless headset? No problem, it’ll likely be going for less. Looking for a budget, wired model to tide you over or as a no-pressure throw-around set? Easy peasy, and it’ll likely only cost a few beans.

Today’s best deals

If you can’t wait until November to start your deal-hunting engines, you’ll be happy to know that many PS5 gaming headsets take significant discounts throughout the year as well. While you may not be getting the absolute best price of the year, those who need a new set of cups now can still find excellent value in the offers below.

We’re also rounding up all the best Black Friday gaming headset deals across a range of consoles, or take a look at the best Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals for more accessories. If you’re looking for a little research ahead of November, it’s also worth checking out the best wireless gaming headsets as well.

We’re also prepping you for the best Cyber Monday PS5 headset deals in case you miss the main event.

The sales season is going to be very far-reaching this year, so also consider swotting up on what the Black Friday PS5 monitor deals and Black Friday PS5 SSD deals are going to look like too.
