How to get Sinnoh Stones in Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go Sinnoh Stones are a special type of evolution stone. Similar to Leaf, Water and Fire Stones in the mainline games, the Sinnoh Stone is crucial to evolving certain Pokemon species.

In Pokemon Go, there are quite a handful of Pokemon that need the Sinnoh Stone to evolve. And, as the name suggests, they are part of the Sinnoh region Pokedex. So if you’re looking to fill your Pokemon Go Pokedex and add some very powerful Pokemon to your team to fight Team Go Rocket or your friends, you’ll want to continue reading about all things Sinnoh Stones in Pokemon Go.

There are currently two ways to get a Sinnoh Stone in Pokemon Go.

  • On the completion of the final day of your 7-day Research Task, also known as a Research Breakthrough
  • As reward for winning Trainer Battles — although this is random

Yes, those looking for Sinnoh Stones at Poke Stops or as part of the tasks themselves can stop torturing themselves. The two main places to get a Sinnoh Stone in Pokemon Go are currently only on the 7th day of your Research Task completion or as a reward for taking part in PvP. Unfortunately there’s no guarantee that you will get a Sinnoh Stone as the end of your seven day streak but the chances are very high of a Sinnoh Stone dropping as well as your usual Pokemon Go Legendaries (opens in new tab) reward.

There are also some special events that will reward trainers Sinnoh Stones for completing certain tasks. This is especially the case when Community Days focus on Pokemon that can evolve using the Sinnoh Stone like when there was the Magmar and Electabuzz Community Days.

Be sure to keep an eye on Pokemon Go’s social channels or our own guides for more information on where to get Sinnoh Stones.
