FIFA 22 Icon Swaps 3 is over – sorry, folks. If you did get involved then you likely already know what the main reward was: a truly spectacular Ruud Gullit card for FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. As yet we don’t know if there will be a FIFA 22 Icon Swaps 4, but if there is we’ll update this page shortly after its arrival. What are FIFA 22 Icon Swaps?
The FIFA 22 Icon Swaps system sees you earn tokens for completing in-game objectives, which can ultimately be exchanged for legendary players or special packs. Naturally, the highest-rated cards require the most tokens. So while you only needed to trade in six player tokens for Iker Casillas (GK, 89) during Icon Swaps 1, Gianluca Zambrotta (RB, 89) cost 14 tokens, and Wayne Rooney (CF, 88) required you to rack up 17 tokens before completing an exchange.
FIFA 22 Icon Swaps 1 started on Wednesday, December 15 and featured seven players in total, plus a variety of packs. On offer in addition to Casillas, Zambrotta and Rooney were Alessandro del Piero (CF, 87), Marcel Desailly (CDM, 88), Marc Overmars (LM, 90), and Rio Ferdinand (CB, 88). Sadly, that chunk of the campaign is now long over, and you need to rely on the transfer market to grab those players.
That promo was followed by Icon Swaps 2 on Monday, February 21. It was headlined by Garrincha (RW, 94) and Fabio Cannavaro (CB, 93), in exchange for 17 and 14 tokens respectively. Other options included Garrincha’s countryman Cafu (RWB, 93) and Steven Gerrard (CM, 91).
Icon Swaps 3 kicked off on Monday, March 27. This one was a humdinger, offering up the daddy of Ultimate Team – AKA Ruud Gullit (CF, 93). Other tantalising options included thunder-booted Brazilian left-back Roberto Carlos (LB, 92) and mercurial wingman George Best (RW, 94). Which new legends could I get through FIFA 22 Icon Swaps 3?
There are only four new legends this year, one of whom is Wayne Rooney – so him being on offer as the highest-rated Icon Swaps 1 prize was kind of a big deal. Spanish super keeper Iker Casillas was a fresh inclusion in that promo too.
That just left Cafu and Robin van Persie, and sure enough the Brazilian was granted an Icon Swaps 2 card – which surely made RVP a lock for Icon Swaps 3. Alas, no! RVP shockingly hasn’t been available as part of any FIFA 22 Icon Swaps campaign. How many coins did I save by using FIFA 22 Icon Swaps 3?
A big old sum. FIFA 22 Icon Swaps 3 represented incredible value if you’re willing to plough the hours in, with three of the seven selectable players going for over 1 million coins on the transfer market. George Best and Roberto Carlos came close to the seven-figure mark too. Here’s what it cost to buy each card off the PS4/PS5 transfer market, as of Thursday, June 9.

The second set of FIFA 22 Icon Swaps 3 objectives earn a maximum of nine FIFA 21 Icon Swaps tokens, split across FUT Friendly and Squad Battles matches. Here’s what you needed to do to earn them…

– Score in 10 separate matches using Ligue 1 players in the Live FUT Friendly: One League
– Assist with a cross in 5 separate matches using Ligue 1 players in the Live FUT Friendly: One League
Icon Swaps La Liga (one token)
– Win 6 matches in the Live FUT Friendly: One League with at least 8 La Liga players in your starting squad
– Score in 10 separate matches using using La Liga players in the Live FUT Friendly: One League
– Assist with a through ball in 5 separate matches using Bundesliga players in the Live FUT Friendly: One League
Icon Swaps PL (one token)
– Win 6 matches in the Live FUT Friendly: One League with at least 8 First Owned Premier League players in your starting squad
– Assist in 10 separate matches using Premier League players in the Live FUT Friendly: One League
– Score using Finesse shots in 6 separate matches using Premier League players in the Live FUT Friendly: One League
Icon Swaps (one token per challenge)
– Win 6 Squad Battles matches on min. World Class difficulty with 11 Silver players in your starting squad (one token)
– Win 6 Squad Battles matches on min. World Class difficulty with 11 Eredivisie players in your starting squad (one token)
