1. SteelSeries Arctis 7P+

The best PS5 headset

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed Back, over earDrivers: 40mm NeodymiumWeight: 354gCompatibility: PS4, PS5, PC, Switch, Mobile

Reasons to buy

+SteelSeries game audio quality+USB-C dongle connectivity+Brilliant 30-hour battery life+Excellent build and comfort

Reasons to avoid

-Bass is a bit lacking-Stock has been spotty

For those familiar with the SteelSeries Arctis 7P, the 7P+ will look basically identical. The former remains an excellent PS5 headset, but in our eyes, the 7P+ should be the new default headset in the range and SteelSeries has breathed a bit of new life and enhancements into the headset – and the results are terrific.

These worthwhile enhancements don’t mess too much with the actual sound but offer a better means to enjoy the already-excellent audio. This comes in the form of improved connectivity, a greater 30-hour battery life, and a quick-charge function on the battery too. While these aren’t going to trouble anyone that already has an Arctis 7P, if you’re after a top PS5 headset, such factors could be the clincher…

But sound quality is king for us, and so it proved again in our testing with the 7P+. The sound is clear, distinct, detailed, rich, and well-rounded – the lack of the bass is a slight complaint but that’s our only real complaint. To round out the experience, we’re still big fans of the excellent build that remains too: there’s a chic design, the build makes the headset strong and solid while retaining great comfort, and the ski-goggle headband is still as great as ever, as are the retractable microphone and onboard controls.

A wonderful headset and one of the best PS5 headsets going – and, for what it’s worth, one of the best PS4 headsets in our eyes too.

2. Razer Kaira X for PlayStation

The best cheap PS5 headset

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed Back, over earDrivers: 50mm Razer TriForceWeight: 283gCompatibility: PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Switch, Mobile

Reasons to buy

+Excellent audio quality+Comfortable fit+Good value

Reasons to avoid

-Ear cups get a bit hot-A little quiet by default

Razer’s first PS5 headset is a solid one. Launching with an ‘X’ variant like the Barracuda means it’s not the full-blown premium Kaira for PlayStation that we get first but the Kaira X for PlayStation is still a worthy contender for those looking for great sound for the $60 / £60 mark – which is exceptional value in our eyes.

And this point is a key factor in what makes this headset great: the value is really excellent, and the bang for buck is great. In our testing we found the sound quality provided by Razer’s TriForce 50mm drivers within the headset to be predictably excellent and uncompromising – full bass, rich middles, and tight, exquisite highs. What’s more, the mix and surround sound revealed themselves to be pretty great to us too for this price point. The mic is solid but doesn’t quite have the warmth and overall richness to more premium headsets.

Yes, the Kaira X for PlayStation is a wired headset and this is a big reason that this is a budget option, but it’s a braided cord, has a strong right-angle connection, and is the ideal length for having enough slack but without being overly long.

For the price and as a simple wired headset, we can’t recommend this excellent Razer PS5 headset enough.

3. Sony PS5 Pulse 3D wireless headset

The best PS5 headset to easily embrace PS5’s Tempest AudioTech

Specifications

Acoustic Design: Closed Back, over earDrivers: 40mmWeight: 295gCompatibility: PS5, PS4, PC, PSVR

Reasons to buy

+Official companion accessory+Potential of Tempest 3D AudioTech+Easy to use+Very comfortable

Reasons to avoid

-Built-in microphone could be better

Sony’s official PS5 headset is, unsurprisingly, a top performer and has consistently been one of our favourites. Sharing the same design language and aesthetic that the PS5 and its accessories have, the Pulse 3D headset maintains a subtlety in its form – there’s no extruding boom mic, and all the tech is discreetly hidden – this is the first major impression we got in testing.

After hours of Miles and Astro, I’m happy to report that my ears are never on fire or begging for release from their new PlayStation prison.

PS5 Pulse 3D headset review

Underneath the stylish frame, however, you’ll find all the necessary tech to immerse yourself in the PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech, with the Pulse 3D headset being the best way to get the most from your new console’s audio. The headset delivers gloriously rich and detailed sound as you traverse Astro Playroom’s noisy noisy platforms, and gives multi-layered audio detail in the roar of combat in Miles Morales.

However, it is in the quieter moments that the Pulse 3D headset and the PS5’s Tempest audio magic really blew us away: spaceships zoom past your head in Astro, or footsteps’ exact direction of travel being discernible in Miles Morales. There’s a reason that this is the official headset, and we can see from our testing and hands-on that Sony invested in it. The results are awesome, and it is absolutely one of the best PS5 headsets – and it’s at an aggressive price point too!

4. Turtle Beach Recon 500

The best wired headset for PS5

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed Back, over earDrivers: 60mm Eclipse Weight: c.600gCompatibility: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Mobile

Reasons to buy

+THAT excellent sound+No ‘gamer aesthetic’ flare or design quirks+Zero distortion

Reasons to avoid

-Nothing special about its construction materials

We often find that you have to make certain tradeoffs when trying to stick to a budget with any gaming headsets, let alone the best PS5 headsets. Often with these sets, we find in our testing that first to walk the plank are extraneous features and luxurious construction materials. You won’t find these on the Recon 500, then, since Turtle Beach’s latest in the long-running line costs less than $100/£100. What we have found however is sound so good it takes you aback, and offers a PS5 headset experience that is terrific in quality, and not too hard on the wallet.

Against all odds, these headphones sound absolutely wonderful.

Turtle Beach Recon 500 Review

Wood composite injection technology. 60mm drivers. Dedicated woofers and tweeters per earcup. These didn’t strike us as a recipe for crisp, precise sound, and yet it was clear to us when it all comes together in a powerful surge of ultra-responsive bass, detailed high end, and a pleasingly flat EQ curve thatwe found had just a bit of audible kick further down the spectrum.

So that’s yours. Take it to the bank. But what isn’t coming along for the ride is much in the way of added features – this is a simple wired model with just a mic mute, detachable mic arm, and volume scroll wheel in the way of physical controls. As a result, we’d say this one isn’t for perennial tweakers then, but those who enjoy simplicity and fundamentally great audio should scout out this new Recon as one of the latest best Turtle Beach headsets and PC headsets for gaming to appear.

5. Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2

The best PS5 headset for powerful, wireless audio

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed Back, over earDrivers: 50mm NanoclearWeight: 382gCompatibility: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC

Reasons to buy

+Doubles battery life from the previous generation+Incredibly comfortable +Great microphone accuracy

Reasons to avoid

-Might be a tight fit for some

Turtle Beach has revamped the Stealth 700 with PS5 (and the ‘other console/s’) explicitly in mind and has significantly upgraded the Stealth 700 from its predecessor at the same time.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 has had a design upgrade from the previous incarnation with a subtler aesthetic, and a flip-to-mute mic that folds neatly into the earcup. The buttons have been reorganized and moved to just one earcup and are well sized and spaced out. We found the new design makes the headset incredibly comfortable, with supple memory foam cushions with Aerofit cooling gel being a highlight, ensuring you can wear them for hours at a time with no aches or strains, or pains.

At a mid-range price point, these headphones are worth every penny.

Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Review

However, the proof is in the pudding and in our testing the Stealth 700 Gen 2 headset sounded excellent. Its large drivers gave us some great all-around sound, and the ability to fine-tune the audio to your liking with the Audio Hub adds depth to the possible soundscapes. The Superhuman Hearing feature is a worthy inclusion too and can give you the edge in online shooters, while the bass boost provided us with some serious rumble during a heart-pumping campaign mission. A great headset that’ll cover you for both PS4 and PS5 and a tough competitor for the best PS5 headset in our eyes.

6. Audeze Penrose

The best PS5 headset for audiophiles

Specifications

Acoustic design: Over-ear, closed-circumauralCable length: Wireless (c.50″ / 127cm aux cable)Drivers: 100mm Planar MagneticWeight: 11.3oz / 320gCompatibility: PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, Mobile

Reasons to buy

+Excellent sound quality and detail+Comfortable+Good battery life+Solid design and build

Reasons to avoid

-More expensive than most top PS5 headsets-Buzzing when using while charging

The Audeze Penrose is a premium PS5 headset in pretty much every sense of the word. Yes, it has the premium price tag, but if any headset has got near to justifying that to us, it’s this one right here.

Offering some of the best audio going we’ve heard from a headset on PlayStation – it’s compatible with PS4 and PS5, and PC for that matter – the investment is worth it, and the benefits of such a premium headset were soon delivered right to our ears and brain. The headset is well built and has an agreeable design aesthetic draped over a sturdy and robust build, all of which factor into what we found to be a comfortable bit of kit to wear for hours at a time. And you’ll be able to do that as well, as in our testing the battery life was easily a solid 15 hours or so – though it’s a bit of a slow headset to charge from empty.

The audio performance is exceptionally detailed, rich, rounded, and well balanced in every department

Audeze Penrose Review

But, importantly, it is those 100mm drivers in the headset that are the most important feature. And they delivered us some of the richest, most detailed, and excellent audio on offer. The surround sound is spot on and beautifully poised, the detail is exquisite with wind, footsteps, and chatter clearly audible – and at a distant, and the balance is great, with highs that don’t squeal, and bass that is not muddy at all, but boomy and robust. A triumph in our eyes.

If you’ve been looking to buy a premium headset, to throw all of your eggs in one quality, excellent basket, then this is probably all the PS5 headset you need – and more.

7. Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal

The best premium PS5 headset

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed Back, over earDrivers: 40mm NeodymiumWeight: 279gCompatibility: PS4, PS5, PC, Mobile

Reasons to buy

+An all in one solution for life and gaming+So good looking they make Harry Styles look frumpy+Punchy sound for gaming, smooth and silky for tunes

Reasons to avoid

-Cost the same as an actual PS5

The Beoplay headset from Bang & Olufsen is exquisitely designed and every one of the 280g that will rest on your head is packed with cutting-edge audio tech. Despite our best attempts not to fall in love, abusing the battery with days of Apple playlists, testing it against every game genre from shooters to indie horrors, even putting it up against the drone of middle management with corporate video calls, it refused to be anything less than impressive.

In terms of comfort, you’re still going to need to be OK with slight pressure on your ears – piercing fans and cute hairstyles beware – but there the weight distribution means no headset headaches after long listening sessions. The buttons are barely visible unless you know where to look, subtly positioned behind the ears. You’ll need to learn where they are by trial and error, but all the basics are there. Picky types can also head into the Bang & Olufsen app to use presets for different experiences and finetune the EQ settings.

The only real issue with this headset is the price. At $500, even with the good looks and great tech, you’re paying a heft percentage for the Bang & Olufsen name. That’s a hard justification to make when there are both lifestyle options and gaming-specific models that can deliver great sound and great looks for less. If you can afford it and want a premium experience, however, then you’ll love the Beoplay Portal and it’s our top pick for best PS5 headset at the very highest, premium end of the market.

8. Razer Kaira Pro for PlayStation

The best PS5 headset for haptic feedback

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed Back, over earDrivers: 50mm Razer TriForceWeight: 365gCompatibility: PS4, PS5, PC, Mobile

Reasons to buy

+Great audio quality+Very comfortable+Haptics are excellent+Solid design

Reasons to avoid

-Dearer than some of its closest competition-Mic is a bit tinny and thin

If you’re looking for one of the latest and greatest from one of the best in your hunt for a PS5 wireless headset then we can absolutely recommend the Razer Kaira Pro for PlayStation as a terrific choice.

The headset shares a lot with the Kaira range generally that we saw rolled out for Xbox prior to the PlayStation range, and, as a result, looks similar, while maintaining a white and black colourway to match the console. One of the biggest selling points to us, however, is the inclusion of Razer’s newest haptic feedback tech. The inclusion of this blew us away in our testing and makes this Razer headset standout as a a set that will add and enhance immersion.

The rumble of gunfire is particularly immersive, and when you turn the haptics up to their full power, it really is something else to behold.

The haptics only requires the existence of audio frequency to work which is impressive, but we found the one drawback wit this to be that your teammates and friends speaking to you will also set them off which is a little annoying – perhaps the next generation of haptics will be able to tell between in-game audio to enhance and chat audio to ignore…

But when the haptics in the Kaira Pro teamed up with a DualSense, our gaming experience was taken to a different place and made for a truly exciting ride and immersive experience (you can turn them off if that’s not your bag). Then you’ll ‘just’ be treated to the Kaira Pro’s excellent audio quality that really does a brilliant job from the deepest of booms to the highest-pitch notes.

We found that the mic could be better despite extensive testing with my friends saying I was a bit tinny and thin sounding, but this isn’t too much of a detractor on what is an exceptional PS5 wireless headset.

9. SteelSeries Arctis 7P

The best alternative PS5 headset to the 7P+

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed Back, over earDrivers: 40mm NeodymiumWeight: 354gCompatibility: PS4, PS5, PC, Switch, Mobile

Reasons to buy

+Excellent audio quality and detail+Very comfortable +Excellent battery life+SteelSeries quality in build and audio

Reasons to avoid

-Bass is a bit lacking-Has now been superseded by the 7P+

As soon as we plugged it in, we found the SteelSeries Arctis 7P to be a seriously good PS5 headset. It oozes both the SteelSeries quality and Arctis line quality in every way and that’s immediately obvious from getting it out of the box. The design is sleek, and the build is robust and sturdy, but also light and comfy. The ski-goggle type headband, I find, very comfortable and easy to adjust – but it can slide a little bit. The retractable microphone is of excellent quality, while all the onboard controls are neat, tidy, and responsive. The bonus of the dial for the mic monitoring and volume for your own voice is nice – though I never used it in testing – and the feature set on PC will allow you to customise to some extent when you’re playing on PC.

This is an excellent piece of kit, and if you’re after a SteelSeries headset that covers you across both generations of console – then this is it.

SteelSeries Arctis 7P Review

The overall audio quality proved to us to be, predictably, excellent, particularly in terms of it being crisp, clear, and detailed. The 40mm drivers do a great job of giving me Valhalla’s music, natural sounds, and much of the combat noises too. I would really like a bit more oomph at the bottom of the audio spectrum though – there’s a noticeable lack of bass sometimes which can, at times, lead to an overwhelmingly alarming amount of treble that’s being thrown straight into your brain. It can even make you wince and lose richness and roundness sometimes.

Overall, it is a great package for anyone looking to next-gen while also keeping their PS4, say, but the SteelSeries Arctis 7P is definitely a contender for best PS5 headset, and worth your money this winter.

Note: the 7P+ is the updated version of this headset and is on this list too, but with the regular 7P still available, it’s an a excellent PS5 option.

10. Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2

The best mid-range wireless PS5 headset

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed Back, over earDrivers: 50mmBattery life: 15 hoursWeight: 580gCompatibility: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC

Reasons to buy

+Solid battery life+Comfortable for glasses wearers+Excellent audio and microphone accuracy+Next-gen compatible

Reasons to avoid

-Plastic across headband feels cheap -Ear cups started to hurt after long-term wear

The second generation of Turtle Beach Stealth 600’s are a great low-to-mid level wireless headset compatible with PS5, PS4 and PC that we really recommend if you’re looking for a wireless set and have a more limited budget – and want something from gaming audio experts.

Earcup comfort and fumbly buttons aside, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 is a fantastically priced headset for what it delivers and a worthy successor to the original Stealth 600.

Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Review

With nicely-tuned 50mm drivers, a solid-but-unspectacular 15-hour battery life, a comfortable fit – even with glasses – we found the overall package to offer some serious bang for buck value. Throw in an easy setup process, and a very accessible price tag, and you really are off to a winner. This is certainly a great choice for gaming on a budget, as the sound quality is top-tier and the microphone sensitivity is ideal for those who want to communicate without shouting. However, because of the reasonable price, we found the headset plastic does feel a bit cheap, especially across the headband and on the ear cups, and unfortunately, the ear cups got a little uncomfortable for us in longer gaming sessions.

However, we can easily recommend the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2s as a good sequel to an affordable wireless headset. It looks pretty good, feels pretty good, and sounds great – a no-brainer if you’re looking to get a pair of headphones ahead of the next-gen release that won’t bankrupt you. This is definitely one of the best wireless gaming headsets, and certainly of the best Turtle Beach headsets (opens in new tab).

11. Razer Barracuda X

The best multi-compatibility PS5 headset

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed backCable length: 1.5mDrivers: 40mm Razer TriforceWeight: 250gCompatibility: Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Android mobile

Reasons to buy

+Excellent audio quality+Wireless+USB-C connection

Reasons to avoid

-No additional software settings

The Razer Barracuda X is an excellent proposition at the $99.99 price point. In testing the audio revealed itself to be excellent, and when you combine this with a solid wireless connection (that’s compatible with basically everything), a build that’s comfortable for long sessions, and a set that we think looks pretty slick, there’s a great package on offer here, and one that’s excellent value for money.

Razer is targeting everyday players with a $99.99 price tag, rather than packing extra features onto a highly tuned professional set of cups.

Razer Barracuda X Review

Sure, you’re dropping the EQ settings of a more PC-focused set of cups, but if you’re just looking for an affordable set of cups that will make your PS5 games come to life where you won’t need to mess around with loads of settings then this is it. We also found the design is also subtle enough to fit into a commuting or travelling scenario, with an understated design that won’t blind your fellow passengers with garish RGB or take up half the carriage with huge cups.

At just 250g, these are some of the lightest cups we’ve tested that are on the market right now – beating the Logitech G733 which is often touted as one of the most comfortable options. That means you’ll be able to dive into particularly long play sessions without feeling the strain. That’s because there’s a nicely padded headband and plump cushioning on either side, which made for a nice temperature without crushing our ears during testing.

12. EPOS | Sennheiser GSP 300

The best wired PS5 headset from EPOS | Sennheiser

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed-acoustic, over-earCable length: 2mDrivers: N/AWeight: 10.2ozCompatibility: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Switch, PC, Mobile, Mac

Reasons to buy

+Sennheiser-quality audio+Excellently clear mic+Comfy+Affordable (for Sennheiser)

Reasons to avoid

-No chat/game audio balancer-Limited features-Design is OK

Because it only needs that 3.5mm audio jack connection, we think this is a fine headset that’ll bag you Sennheiser-level audio quality without paying the premium price tags.

That simple connection means its compatibility with basically all devices so we can recommend this as particularly great for those who want to cover their bases when looking at the best PS5 headsets. DUring our testing we found the audio to be detailed, have excellent surround/directional accuracy, and a wonderful overall richness. We found the mic, while not detachable or hidden to function well and be solid too.

Getting a Sennheiser-quality headset like this, at this price point, and with this device-versatility, is an excellent proposition and one that is easy to recommend

EPOS Sennheiser GSP 300 Review

One small downside we found is that the audio is so good that everything comes through excellently and of the same quality and volume, which means it’s not that easy to discern between incoming voices when you’re playing in a team of three or more, and it’d be nice to have some more features but the stripped-back approach helps to keep the costs down. For versatility without the frills of features however, and for those who put audio first, then this is still an easy PS5 headset for us to recommend.

13. ASUS ROG Delta S

The best USB-C PS5 headset

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed backCable length: 1.5mDrivers: 50mm Neodymium Weight: 300gCompatibility: PC, Mac, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Android mobile

Reasons to buy

+Lightweight and comfortable+Plenty of customization options+Excellent audio performance…

Reasons to avoid

-… once the EQ is sorted

In our testing we found the ASUS ROG Delta S to pack a punch. Straight out the box things are geared very much towards the higher ranges, which means bass lines can flatten out under dialogue-forward scenes.

It’s true, you won’t be taking much notice of the RGB circling the plastic outer shell of each cup when you’re playing, but the result is super clean and will add an extra pop of color to streams.

Asus ROG Delta S Review

However, we were able to quickly adjust that with the EQ software which allows for an incredibly in-depth set of controls. Being able to adjust levels across the entire spectrum makes this a great feature in one of the best PS5 headsets for gaming. We mention the software up top in this PS5 headset recommendation because the ROG Delta S can be altered while plugged into a PC but then retains the settings chosen for when it is plugged into your PS5 – neat!

All of the audio excellence and software customisation opportunities are housed in a sturdy yet lightweight shell, with durable plastic cups lined with clean (and easily personalized) RGBs and heavy memory foam cushioning. The cups themselves sport a unique triangular shape inherent to the Delta design, but aside from standing out to the eye they also provided us with plenty of support in longer sessions.

This is certainly a powerful headset, but it’s worth noting that PS5 players who have the option of plugging into a PC to delve into those settings will benefit the most here.

14. Razer Kraken

The best classic Razer PS5 headset

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed BackCable length: 1.3mDrivers: 50mmWeight: 322gCompatibility: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Mac, mobile

Reasons to buy

+Lightweight and comfortable+Beefy bass+MIc is great for voice chat

Reasons to avoid

-Mid tones are lacking

We’ve long been a fan of the Kraken range of headsets and, such is their quality, we still are. This headset gave us great sound and game audio, and at its price point, and given it can be used across a wide variety of devices – due to a simple 3.5mm audio jack connection – it’s a terrific PS5 headset.

We found this particular iteration of the popular Razer headset to be lightweight and, despite the large earcups, comfortable for long gaming sessions. Sound-wise, we found it to be broadly rich and detailed, but the mid-range is a bit muddy, while the bass packs a punch. The fully retractable, unidirectional microphone gave us clear voice chat, and you can even choose between oval or circular ear cushions. If you’re looking for a Razer headset under £100/ $100 that still performs, this is it.

There’s even a stripped-back version of the Kraken called the Kraken X (opens in new tab) which keeps a lot of what is good about the headset but slightly repackages it into a cheaper set.

Reasons to avoid

-Feels slightly cheap/fragile-Open back model has sound leakage

The Audio-Technica ATH-GL3 gaming headset looks as good as it sounds – but this isn’t all that surprising to us. After all, we know Audio-Technica to be a famous brand in the world of audiophiles, making some seriously powerful mics, speakers, headsets, and more. And this entry into the game space is an impressive one and one that could prove a great selection for a PS5 headset.

It’s wild how something that sounds so good could be so lightweight.

Audio-Technica ATH-GL3 Review

We were sent both the Audio-Technica ATH-GL3 and the ATH-GDL3 (opens in new tab) to test – they’re very similar save for the GL3s are closed-back and the GDL3s are open back, and the latter is more expensive. We found that the Audio-Technica ATH-GL3 boast some seriously punchy audio that may come as a shock considering how lightweight they are – less than eight ounces, to be precise. With 45mm drivers, gorgeous soundscapes were presented to our ears, and an audio profile that made it easy to identify footsteps in Apex Legends with as much detail as the chords in a Fleetwood Mac song makes the headset shine. These ATH-GL3 are a great option for gamers looking to spend less than $100 on a headset for PS5 and who want to maximise gaming performance, as well as audio quality.

Plus, the ATH-GL3 are designed with multi-use in mind to help you to maximize bang for your buck. They have a wired connection that can be used across multiple devices, so you can make the most of these bad boys. With fantastic quality, impressive build, and reasonable price point, we think the Audio-Technica ATH-GL3 headset is a fantastic gaming headset option.

16. Sony PlayStation 4 Platinum headset

The best PS5 headset from the PS4 lineup

Specifications

Acoustic design: Closed BackBattery life: 6 hoursDrivers: 50mmWeight: 318gCompatibility: PS4, PS5

Reasons to buy

+Designed exclusively for the PlayStation 4+Super comfortable+Stylish look

Reasons to avoid

-Companion app is fairly redundant

Ah, my go-to PS4 headset for a good few years during last generation. I only have positive things to say about the Sony Platinum headset really, but this is tempered by the fact that it is a legacy model now, and might be a bit hard to find,

If you can find it, however, we always found the set to provide a fantastic mix of price and performance. (If the Platinum is too expensive, we’d actually really recommend the Gold version too, which is about $40/£30 less, but doesn’t quite offer the same quality of sound or the extra metallic trim.) We think that the 50mm drivers only lack a tiny bit, and that’s in the lower end, but we always had an excellent level of audio detail, clarity, surround sound, and richness to everything meaning the overall audio is of exquisite quality.

The feature set – on PS4 at least – is excellent too with the headset featuring an excellent game/chat audio balancer, and the ability to store onboard some game audio profiles – specifically designed audio soundscapes for particular games – enhancing the audio experience of games no end. Its most natural home is probably on the PS4, but while not made for PS5, we do know is that the Platinum headset is certainly one to consider for someone wanting an official headset to straddle two great consoles particularly.

The battery life and wireless connection range might see it overtaken by other more modern competitors in the near future but it’s still a fine headset and one I personally have great time for – my friend uses it now, and he too raves about it.
