Pokemon Go Mega Pidgeot Raid Counters to help defeat and catch them

Our Pokemon Go Mega Pidgeot Raid Counters will help you defeat and add this powerful Flying-type to your team. From Tuesday, April 12 until Friday, April 29, Mega Pidgeot will start appearing in Mega Raids. By battling, defeating, and catching,  Pokemon Go trainers can earn enough Pokemon Go Mega Energy to Mega Evolve their Pidgeot’s into its ultimate form.

Mega Pidgeot is the best Flying-type option for trainers looking to add a Mega to their team. It has a great variety of Flying-type attacks that will work well in PVP battles against Team Go Rocket members as well as against Fighting, Bug and Grass types that trainers will fight in Raids.

We recommend going after Mega Pidgeot to add this option to teams, and to help we’ve come up with this handy guide to which Pokemon are the best counters as well as an in-depth look at the attacks this Pokemon will use in battle against you.

 Pokemon Go Mega Pidgeot Counters

Mega Pidgeot is a Normal and Flying-type Pokemon, making it weak to Ice, Electric and Rock-type moves.

Pokemon Go has a myriad of powerful Electric types to use, especially a handful of Megas, but since Mega Pidgeot’s first run in Raids, another Mega Pokemon has been added that can help trainers take down this powerful bird.

Mega Aerodactyl is the only Rock-type Mega Pokemon in the game so far and it has access to great Rock-type attacks that will help trainers take down Mega Pidgeot. This Pokemon will also power up the Rock-type moves of your entire team for trainers choosing to bring a team of Rock types into battle.

If you’re one of those trainers, Rampardos and Rhyperior are the perfect options to bring. Not only will they deal super effective damage, but they’ll resist just about every move Mega Pidgeot throws at you, more on that in the next section.

Bringing an Electric-type team is also the way to go when in Mega Pidgeot Raids. Mega Manectric and Mega Ampharos are your two Mega options while bringing Zekrom, Electivire, Raikou or other powerful Electric types to round out the team will lead to success.

Here’s a list of potential counters to take into battle against Mega Pidgeot.

As one of the most popular Flying types in Pokemon, trainers should expect a heavy dose of Flying-type moves when going into battle against it.

Five of the Pokemon’s six total attacks are of the Flying variety, giving an advantage to Rock and Electric types as they resist them. All of Mega Pidgeot’s Charged Attacks are Flying-type so those two types can tank this Pokemon’s most powerful attacks.

Mega Pidgeot’s Fast Attacks is where it can get interesting. Air Slash is a Flying-type attack, so the same principles apply when it comes to which type of Pokemon to bring. However, Steel Wing — the Steel-type attack — is its other Fast Attack option.

Rock types are weak to Steel-type moves, so bringing them against a Mega Pidgeot may not be the best way to go. Using the recommended page when first entering a Raid can give trainers insight as to what Pokemon to bring. If the game recommends Rock types, then it’s highly unlikely Mega Pidgeot has Steel Wing at its disposal.
